We use Mule-Hide TPO roofing products. We’ve used different TPO products through the years. Through our experience it’s superior to the other TPO roofing options for commercial roofing jobs. Why do we think that? We’re glad you asked. Let’s dig in.

Mule-Hide the company has been around since 1906. They started manufacturing shingles, siding and other roofing accessory products. Being around for over 100 years, they know a thing or two about roofing products. They manufacture and sell many roofing products from membranes to adhesives to acrylic & silicone coatings to drains to flashing and so much more. With so many products each product will work with each of their products. That way it’s not a matter of getting this or that and HOPING it will work with their product. If it’s all Mule-Hide it will work.

Mule-Hide’s TPO has several benefits that not all TPO manufacturers have. It’s environmentally better as it’s free of chlorine and has no plasticizer migration. It’s also 100% recyclable. It’s easy to install by a professional installer like Flat Roofs by Pegam because it comes in 8’, 10’ & 12’ sections for less seams during installation which means less installation costs. It has a thicker top ply; more product on top of the scrim where needed most. Depending on the product chosen, they stand behind their products with a strong warranty.

TPO roofs have many benefits not specific to Mule-Hide, but still worth mentioning. It is an energy efficient roof. It reflects up to 78% of the sun’s rays when using white. Other colors are available, but may not reflect as much of the sun’s rays. Certainly a prime candidate for here in Hampton Roads/Tidewater! TPO keeps moisture out, yet it’s lightweight. It can handle almost any environment from heat to cold to full sun to not so much sun. TPO is flexible during installation AND stays flexible during the life of the product. How many things have you left in the sun for an extended amount of time can do that?! That leads us to our next point. Unlike some roofing solutions, TPO can be fixed. TPO can even be cleaned to a “like-new” appearance. Looking to sell your building? Having the roof look like-new despite it having some age in it could help with the sell. It also looks great to your tenants.

Finally, it’s worth mentioning that a TPO roof is resistant to:

  • Fire
  • Airborne Bacteria
  • Industrial pollutants
  • Moisture
  • Extreme cold
  • Downpours
  • Rooftop traffic
  • Impacts
  • Tears
  • Punctures
